In respect and gratitude to the previous management, OWE has adopted the existing policies and code of conduct they established, which reflect the values and spirit of this community.
The Board of Directors of Olde World Entertainment is committed to providing an experience that is both fun and safe for all participants. Our code of conduct applies to all participants, including but not limited to: players, vendors, and staff.
Violations of our code of conduct, including harassment complaints, should be brought to the attention of our Board of Directors, either by email ([email protected]) or in person. If reporting on behalf of another person, anonymous complaints may also be sent via our webform at the bottom of the page. Unless the complainant requests otherwise, or legal action is necessary, all information gathered by the Board is kept confidential.
The OWE Board of Directors is responsible for bringing disciplinary recommendations to the game’s owners, who make final decisions regarding who may attend their events; more serious violations may result in an individual not being allowed on site. Each complaint received by the Board is evaluated based upon the evidence presented, existing information about the participants in question, and ultimately, the judgment of the members of the Board. OWE will likely resolve most complaints internally, but if the violation is serious enough, the Board may recommend legal action.
The following code of conduct provides a list of behaviors that are not tolerated at OWE events or between OWE participants (this includes online and out-of-game interactions). OWE is a private company operating on private land and reserves the right to refuse service and/or refuse entry to the property. OWE may take preemptive action to refuse service if a participant is known to the Board to have behaved poorly in other games/events outside of OWE, has created a hostile playing environment, conducted themselves poorly outside of the game, or cheated.
OWE Hosted Games: A player may also be expelled from combat for aggressive play, cheating, or arguing with combat marshals.
The following behaviors are never tolerated and may result in OWE refusing service:
Note About In-Character Actions:
In-character actions are never an excuse for causing real-life harm. If your in-character action could be mistaken for any of the above behaviors, you must pre-negotiate this roleplay with all individuals present. This means if your roleplay is conducted in a public area, you should always avoid the above behaviors.
Note About Hate Symbols
Historical cultural symbols are often appropriated by hate groups, and participants should be aware of the multiple contexts in which these symbols are used. In particular, many Norse and Pagan symbols are used by hate groups. In-game context is important, but our games do not exist in a vacuum. Therefore, we may at times ask participants to remove or redesign symbols/icons to further separate them from those used by hate groups. A good resource for checking symbols is adl.org/hate-symbols.
